The same work, on the island
Rats and mice, wasps and hornets, bed bugs, fleas, ants, cockroaches and the rest of it, carried out by qualified technicians and backed by the same guarantee as the mainland work.
Proofing as well as treatment. Rodents come back to a building that still has the gap they used last time, and closing it is the part of the job that decides whether you see us again next winter.
Work for businesses as well as households. Holiday lets, pubs, shops and kitchens all have records to keep and a season they cannot afford to lose, and that side of the work needs planning rather than a single visit.
What the island brings with it
A large visitor economy changes the pest picture. Bed bugs travel in luggage, so anywhere with a high turnover of guests sees more of them than a street of family homes does. That is not a hygiene failure, it is arithmetic, and the thing that matters is catching it in one room before a changeover carries it into the next.
Wasp nests are at their largest and most defensive from late July, which is exactly when the island is busiest, and a nest over a doorway stops being an inconvenience the moment there are people under it.
Older buildings on the edge of open ground give rodents what they want as the weather turns. That is seasonal rather than a sign of anything wrong with the property.
Where we will cover
The whole island, PO30 to PO41: Newport, Ryde, Cowes, East Cowes, Sandown, Shanklin, Ventnor, Freshwater, Yarmouth and Bembridge, along with the villages between them.
We are not putting a date on it, because a date we miss is worse than no date at all. What we can say is that the list beside this is the first thing we will work through.
