Privacy policy

How we collect, use, share and protect your personal information, and what you can ask us to do about it. Last updated 26 August 2026.

In short. We collect what a job or an enquiry needs and nothing else, we use it to do the work and keep the records our accreditations require, we never sell it, and you can ask us at any time to show you what we hold or to delete it, on info@pest-co.co.uk or 01332 862 737. Your rights are set out in full below. The terms we work to are in our terms of service.

Who we are

D&R Solutions Ltd, registered at Companies House as D & R Solutions Limited (company number 08182910) and trading as The Pest Control Co, is the data controller for the personal information described in this policy. Our registered address is The Training & Conference Centre, Chapel Street, Melbourne, Derbyshire DE73 8EH.

This policy covers pest-co.co.uk, pestco.uk and pestco.co.uk. You can reach us about anything in it at info@pest-co.co.uk or on 01332 862 737.

What we collect, and when

We only collect what a job or an enquiry actually needs. In practice that falls into six groups.

  • When you ask for a quote or contact us. Your name and telephone number, which are required, and your email address, postcode, property type, the pest involved and anything you write in the message box, which are not.
  • When you use the web chat. Whatever you type into the conversation, which is handled by the chat system we run across the group.
  • When you message us on WhatsApp. Your WhatsApp display name and telephone number, and the messages you send. If you arrived from an advert we also pass a short reference code so we can tell which advert brought you, and that code is generated before you are handed to WhatsApp.
  • When you apply for a job. Whatever you send us, which is usually a CV, your contact details and your work history.
  • When you pay. The details needed to take payment for the work. Card payments are taken through the group's Lloyds Bank Cardnet facility, operated by JG Environmental Ltd, and your card is tokenised by the payment provider. That means we never see or store your full card number: the provider holds it and gives us a secure reference that lets us take the payments you have agreed.
  • When you browse the site. Standard analytics information through Google Tag Manager, including pages viewed and how you arrived. If you clicked an advert, the click identifier is held in your browser for the length of your visit so that an enquiry can be matched to the advert that produced it.

Why we are allowed to use it

Under UK data protection law we have to have a lawful basis for each use, and ours are these.

  • To do the work you asked for. Quoting, booking, attending and following up a job is performance of a contract with you, or the steps taken before one.
  • To run the business properly. Keeping treatment records, handling complaints and improving how we work is our legitimate interest, balanced against your rights.
  • Because the law or our accreditations require it. Pest management records have to be kept and produced on request, including for audits.
  • Because you agreed. Non-essential cookies and analytics run only where you have accepted them through the cookie banner, and you can change that at any time.

Who else sees it

We do not sell your personal information and we never will. It is shared only where it is needed to deliver the service or run the site.

  • Our own group systems. Enquiries are recorded in the customer system used across the group so that whoever attends has the details of the job.
  • Our email provider, which delivers enquiry notifications to us and confirmation emails to you.
  • Google, through Tag Manager and analytics, for site measurement and advertising performance.
  • WhatsApp, which is part of Meta, if you choose to message us there. That conversation is subject to WhatsApp's own terms and privacy policy as well as this one.
  • Our payment providers, Lloyds Bank Cardnet with Paymentsense as a backup, to take payment securely. Card payments run through the Cardnet facility operated by JG Environmental Ltd, the company within our group that holds it.
  • Trustpilot, whose review widget loads on our homepage.
  • Professional advisers, insurers and, where we are required to, regulators or law enforcement.

How long we keep it

We keep your information for as long as we need it to provide the service, to handle any query or complaint that follows, and to meet our legal, insurance and accreditation obligations. Treatment records in particular have to be retained and produced on request. When information is no longer needed for any of those purposes we delete it or make it anonymous. We can provide details of our retention periods on request.

Your rights

You can ask us to give you a copy of the personal information we hold about you, correct it if it is wrong, delete it, restrict what we do with it, or object to us using it. You can also ask us to send it to another provider where that applies, and you can withdraw any consent you have given at any time.

Ask us using the details at the top of this page and we will deal with it. If you are not satisfied with how we have handled it you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, which is the UK's data protection regulator.

Cookies

The site sets cookies that are necessary for it to work, and, where you accept them, cookies that measure how the site is used and how well our advertising performs. You can accept or reject the non-essential ones through the banner, and you can clear or block cookies in your browser at any time.

Keeping it safe, and where it is held

Access to enquiry and customer records is limited to the people who need it to do their job. Some of the providers listed above operate outside the United Kingdom, and where information is transferred abroad it is protected by the safeguards that UK data protection law requires.
