When the nest cannot be found
Wasp pots reduce the wasps bothering the space you use when there is no nest to treat. They are worth having in the right situation, and worth refusing in the wrong one, so here is both.
Only when the nest is not findable
If we can find it, we treat it, and that ends the problem properly. Pots are for when nobody can.
They thin the wasps in one area
Placed around the space you actually use, they take foraging workers out of it and reduce the nuisance.
Serviced through the season
They fill, and a full pot does nothing. We replace and reposition them while wasps are active.
We tell you the limits first
A pot does not destroy a colony. Anyone selling it as a nest solution is overselling it.
Try to find the nest first
A treated nest is finished. Wasps stop arriving, the problem ends for that season, and you are not paying for anything to be serviced. That is a better outcome than any pot, and it is what we would rather sell you.
Nests are missed more often than people expect, because the entry point can be a long way from where the wasps are a nuisance. Before settling for cover, it is worth a technician watching the flight line for a few minutes.

When pots are worth it
- A beer garden, terrace or outdoor servery where wasps are driving customers away and no nest can be traced.
- A nest on a neighbouring property or land we have no permission to enter.
- A nest genuinely inaccessible, for example inside a cavity or high roof void that cannot be reached safely.
- A site where wasps arrive from a wide area rather than from one nest nearby.
- The weeks after a nest treatment, while stragglers returning to the old site die off.
What they will not do
- They do not kill a colony. If there is a reachable nest, treating it is faster, cheaper and permanent for that season.
- They reduce wasps in the area around them. They do not clear a whole garden or a whole site.
- They work on foraging workers, so they do little in early summer when few are out looking for food.
- They need emptying and replacing. A pot left to fill up is decoration.
- They are useless against a nest indoors. That needs treating, not trapping.
If that rules them out for you, it has saved us both a visit. For businesses, cover is usually better handled inside a commercial arrangement.
